About the job: This job gives service by repairing any part of vehicle. In this job, expect to meet grease, dirt, and other vehicle related items. Where will you work: The repair shop is usually the work place for the automotive technician, along with the mechanics. They should be well-lit, and although problems are usually fixed and identified with computers, they might sometimes work in an uncomfortable positions with greasy parts and tools. You may also work at automobile dealers’ shops.
What will you do: Automotive technicians usually inspect, maintain, replace parts, and repair cars, and light trucks. This job also needs to explain the problems of the vehicle to the customers.
How to become Automotive Technician: Program at a post-secondary institution is usually preferred by employers. Once employed, industry certification is required. On-the-job training may be given in short period of time depending on the need of the clients.
