The Region 2 WORKFORCE Investment Board provides services for the youth of the area through two primary venues, in-school youth and out-of-school youth. Both services are designed to assist the youth of our region to prepare for a productive career through various beneficial training and educational initiatives.

3. Human Resource Development Foundation, Inc. - Buckhannon Office

Supportive Services Offered· Training-Related Needs-Based Payments. Youth receive a $4.00 per hour training- related needs-based payment for each hour spent in classroom training or unpaid work activities, such as: Occupational Exploration, internships, and community services.· TASC Attainment Incentive Youth receive a $100.00 incentive for receiving their TASC. Successful completion will be documented by the attainment of a diploma.· Measurable Gains Bonus Youth receive a $50.00 and $25.00 bonuses for increasing their TABE levels, receiving a promotion at work, completing additional certificates, obtaining their driver's license...and other steps that lead to self-sufficiency.· Additional Assistance The program covers costs associated with testing, certification and lab fees. Staff can assist with resources needed to go to work, such as specialized tools or clothing.

4. Human Resource Development Foundation, Inc. - Charleston Office

?Supportive Services Offered ? · Needs-Based Payments (stipends) Youth receive a $5.00 per hour needs-based payment for each hour spent in Classroom training or unpaid work activities, such as: Job shadowing, internships, and community service.· Transportation The program purchases bus passes for participants through the Kanawha County Transit Authority.· Tuitions, Fees and Books Funds are available to cover the cost associated with tuitions, fees and books.· Testing Fees The program covers costs associated with SAT and/or ACT testing.· Common Measures Degree /Certificate Attainment Bonus Youth receive a $100.00 bonus for attainment of a diploma, degree or certificate.· Miscellaneous Funds are available to cover miscellaneous or incidental costs such as: payment for a Food Handler·s Card, personal hygiene/grooming items, or specialized training such as; First Aid, CPR, CIB·s, etc., provided it supports the participants· Individualized Career Plan.

???Supportive Services Offered ? · Certificate Attainment Youth receive $100.00 for receiving their High School Equivalency Diploma or for one related credential.· Transportation Payments Youth receive a $30.00 Transportation Payment to assist with the beginning stages of Summer Employment, Occupational Exploration, and/or Employment (this excludes participants who receive free bus passes or duplication of transportation from another provider).· Monthly Participation Incentive Payments Youth receive a $150.00 incentive payment for participating in program activities for a minimum of 60 hours participation a month. This participation incentive will include transportation costs for the youth. Incentives are limited to 9 months of the program year, for each participant.· Common Measures Literacy Numeracy Gain Bonus Program Youth who are basic skills deficient and increase one or more educational functioning levels, during the program year participation, receive a $25.00 bonus for each increased functioning level obtained, and $50 for exceeding Basic Skills.· Testing Fees The program covers the costs associated with TABE, Work Keys, High School Equivalency, SAT and/or ACT testing.

16. Southern Appalachian Labor School
